Democrats have increased the size of government, raised taxes, and put the state on a path of unsustainable spending that Minnesotans simply can’t afford.
It’s time we put Minnesotans first by reining in wasteful spending and fraud, holding government accountable for results, and helping Minnesotans with the high costs of living.
Helping Minnesotans with the cost of living
Families are struggling to make ends meet. We need to cut spending, make daily life more affordable, and remove Minnesota from the top 10 highest tax burden states.
WHAT WE'LL DO:
- Repeal automatic annual gas tax increase
- No state tax on tips
- Tax incentives/credits to reduce childcare costs
- A+ Energy Plan for more affordable energy
- Reauthorize reinsurance to keep health insurance costs from skyrocketing.
- HOA reform to make housing more affordable and accessible
Reining in spending and controlling government growth
Uncontrolled, reckless budget growth has Minnesota facing a $5 billion deficit. We must return to responsible spending and budgeting.
WHAT WE'LL DO:
- Government efficiency bill or other OIG proposals
- Eliminate free college for non-citizens
- Eliminate free health care for non-citizens
- Repeal prohibitive broadband regulations that are stopping broadband development
Holding government accountable to stop the waste, fraud, and abuse
Government waste under Democrat leadership has to stop. We will eliminate fraud and ensure taxpayer money is used effectively.
WHAT WE'LL DO:
- Strengthen the OLA recommendations to include annual reviews of compliance and fraud risk assessments
- Mandate agencies follow through on reporting requirements to assess fraud
- Create statewide Office of the Inspector General
Keeping our communities safe
Democrats have weakened public safety. Republicans will support law enforcement, get tough on criminals, and fund effective crime prevention.
WHAT WE'LL DO:
- Repeal the MRRA that let dangerous criminals out of prison even earlier
- Violence and crime prevention programs
- Three strikes law for mandatory minimum for repeat violent offenders
Putting students first, strengthening families, and protecting children
Parents -- not government -- should have the primary role in raising children. We will promote family-first policies.
WHAT WE'LL DO:
- Authorize local school boards to waive state mandates enacted after January 1, 2023
- Address funding disparities by allocating all dollars on a per pupil basis
- Improve school safety by providing additional whistleblower protections for teachers or school employees; require parental notification of violent or disruptive events
- Save Women’s Sports Act
- Protect nursing homes and other long-term care facilities.
