As we approach the new year, this is a special time to not only reflect on the blessings we received in 2018 but also look forward to the hope and possibilities of 2019.

For our family, 2018 brought many celebrations of grandchildren birthdays, quality time spent with family and friends, and the continued pleasure of serving you in the Minnesota Senate.

As 2019 begins, I am encouraged by a spirit of togetherness and a commitment to doing what is best for all Minnesotans. Our state legislature will see a lot of new faces this year, including two new House members for our community. I welcome Rep. Mann and Rep. Cantrell to St. Paul. It is important to remember, that no matter our background or political persuasion, this state is home to all of us. And as your State Senator, I am dedicated to serving all of you.

I am hopeful that the 2019 legislative session will be a successful one for Minnesota families. In fact, there is a brand-new Family Care and Aging Committee in the Senate. Focused on prioritizing the family unit and the vital role that it plays in our society, the committee will also emphasize elder care, ensuring our loved ones receive the proper care and protections that they deserve as they age.

From my family to yours, I wish you a Happy New Year and a prosperous 2019. May your year be bright with hope and optimism for what we can achieve together. We are all blessed to live in this great state and country, and I look forward to a prosperous new year.
