Earlier this week audio came out of Governor Walz making an incendiary speech at the Capitol in which he claimed, “Our country has been stolen by fascists and Nazis,” implying that Republicans winning elective offices is the equivalent in nature to one of the darkest periods in world history.
“I find Governor Walz’s words to be divisive, alarming, and insensitive to those who suffered and whose families suffered through the cruelest conditions ever seen in world history,” said Senator Eric Pratt (R-Prior Lake). “Millions of Jews lost their lives during the Holocaust, and Governor Walz’s words are not only incendiary, but they undermine incredible tragedy. He should apologize immediately.”
This also comes just days after it was uncovered that the Department of Management and Budget has been using training programs for state employees that staff referred to Republicans as “white supremacist” and holding an “autocratic agenda.”
“Both of these stories are indicative of a troubling theme of division that is being pushed by our Governor and his agencies. Minnesotans should not be vilified for having different political beliefs – unique views are what push us together to find solutions that work for everyone. In the legislature, we are working to find that middle ground, and it’s disappointing our Governor is uninterested in doing the same,” finished Pratt.
