Senator Rich Draheim [R-Madison Lake] will be joined by Senator Roger Chamberlain [R-Lino Lakes], Chairman of the Senate Tax Committee, in hosting a tax town hall in New Prague on Wednesday, February 7. Held from 6:30 until 8 PM at New Prague City Hall, the tax town hall will be a public listening session on state taxes, the tax cuts enacted by the state legislature in 2017, and the effect of federal tax reform legislation on Minnesotans. The majority of the meeting will focus on public questions and answers with Senator Draheim and Senator Chamberlain.
“This town hall provides an opportunity for us to hear from the public about how tax policy can best work for them,” said Senator Draheim. “Our focus is keeping wages earned by Minnesotans in their pocketbooks.”
The tax town hall is part of a six-stop statewide tour hosted by Senator Chamberlain in an effort to gather public input on state taxes and potential legislation. Without action by the state legislature, Minnesotans face an unintended state tax increase following the federal tax reforms.
“I look forward to hearing from folks on this very important subject,” added Draheim. “With public input, we can best find solutions to protect the hard-earned income of Minnesotans while growing our economy.”
