Draheim refuses per diem and mileage compensation during May 24 special session
During the 2019 special legislative session to pass the bipartisan, balanced Minnesota state budget, Senator Rich Draheim (R-Madison Lake) continues to refuse per diem pay and mileage reimbursement.
“In the private sector, employees do not get rewarded for failing to finish the job,” said Senator Draheim. “Elected officials should be no different. Taxpayers should not be asked to pay extra for our additional work. I continue my tradition of refusing special session pay and will work across the aisle in “overtime” to pass a balanced state budget that funds the priorities of Minnesotans. Thankfully, we reached a bipartisan agreement between the Senate, House, and Governor Walz.”
