On Friday, August 3, Senator Eric Pratt [R-Prior Lake] and Senator Karin Housley [R-St. Mary’s Point] co-hosted a meeting covering elder care and other health care related issues at St. Gertrude’s Health and Rehabilitation Center in Shakopee. Specifically, the senators and health care officials discussed the bipartisan efforts of the legislature in passing an elder care bill during the 2018 session. Unfortunately, it was vetoed by Governor Dayton.
“St. Gertrude’s is an extremely important asset to our community and facilities like it should have a seat at the table when discussing future legislative reform,” said Senator Pratt, who also volunteers on the St. Gertrude’s board of directors. “I look forward to continuing discussions with long-term care providers and supporting much needed elder care reform during the 2019 session.”
Senator Pratt was joined in Shakopee by Senator Housley, Chairwoman of the Senate Aging and Long-Term Care Policy Committee and chief-author of the elder care reform legislation that passed the legislature in 2018.
