On Wednesday, May 23, Governor Dayton vetoed legislation to conform to the new federal tax code along with the supplemental budget. Senator Bill Ingebrigtsen (R-Alexandria) expressed his frustration and disappointment in the action taken by Governor Dayton.
“We spent all session working with citizens of Minnesota to address key issues that have come up since we met last year and today Governor Dayton took all of that hard work and threw it away for the DFL special interest groups,” said Senator Ingebrigtsen. “Money to address MNLARS, school safety funding, and lowering the tax rates for Minnesotans were all included in the bills the governor vetoed today. Furthermore, opioid addiction reforms along with provisions to help agriculture were also on the chopping block as the Governor used his veto pen impulsively and in a vindictive fashion.”
