ST. PAUL – Today Senator Warren Limmer asked for an informational hearing of the Senate Judiciary and Public Safety Committee to address the concerns raised by new language for Student Resource Officers (SRO).
“In light of the decisions to removal of SROs from area schools, including police departments in my senate district, an informational hearing would be a wise move to keep legislators informed and prepared for any potential special session that is called,” Limmer said.
About 40 law enforcement agencies have now announced they are removing SROs from dozens of schools. Fights at two high schools severely injured one student and resulted in the assault of a school staffer.
