Minnesota’s entire $19 billion surplus has been squandered by extreme Democrat mismanagement, leaving Minnesota with a shocking $5.1 billion deficit. In just two years of their one-party control Democrats have turned the state budget into a train wreck.

How did they do it? A 40% increase in spending, rampant waste, fraud, and abuse, and $10 billion in tax hikes on every single Minnesotan. Instead of heeding Republican caution or working together, Democrats ignored common sense and chose to appease only Democrat special interest allies. Families and taxpayers begged for relief, but Democrats treated Minnesotans as a bottomless piggy bank.

The last two years have been disastrous on family budgets. Government spending has ballooned from $39 billion to $71 billion, while the paychecks of all of us working hard for our families have been stretched thinner and thinner. Moreover, Minnesotans are saddled with among the highest tax burdens in the country as a result of Democrat tax increases.

You deserve a government that ensures your well-being versus Democrat reckless spending. The coming deficit isn’t an accident – it is the direct result of Democrats’ unsustainable policies and refusal to work with Republicans.

We need to stop the waste and fraud. We need responsible governing. We need to protect the family budget. Most of all, we need leadership that puts Minnesota families first and this is exactly what I will continue prioritizing when the Legislature gavels back into session in January!
