On Tuesday, November 27, Senator Scott Newman [R-Hutchinson] was re-appointed Chairman of the Senate Committee on Transportation Finance and Policy. Senator Newman has served as chairman of the committee since January 2017.
“I am honored to be re-appointed Chairman of the Senate Committee on Transportation,” said Senator Newman. “During the last legislative biennium, we passed the largest roads and bridges infrastructure funding package since 2008, without raising taxes. Additionally, we passed a bipartisan infrastructure bill that included over half a billion dollars in vital transportation funding. With investments in projects like Highway 14, Highway 23, and funding for critical local road and bridge improvements, we improved Minnesota’s transportation system, commerce, and quality of life for generations to come. There is more work to be done, such as reforming our state’s driver’s license system, MNLARS. However, we are committed to adequate and fair funding for transportation across Minnesota.”
Senator Scott Newman is in his third term representing Senate District 18, which includes communities in McLeod, Meeker, Sibley, and Wright counties.
