Senator Coleman’s legislation to honor Prince Rogers Nelson moves to the Senate floor

On Monday, Feb. 6, SF-279, legislation to designate a stretch of Highway 5 in Chanhassen as ‘Prince Rogers Nelson Memorial Highway,’ passed out of the Senate Transportation Committee and will now move to the Senate floor. Under this legislation, the highway sign would be in purple to commemorate Prince’s trademark color.

Senator Julia Coleman (R-Waconia) today released the following statement and shared a video on her bill:

Prince’s great legacy lives on in Minnesota and in our community of Chanhassen. The Prince Rogers Nelson Memorial Highway is a small way we can honor the life of a man known and admired worldwide, but who chose to call Minnesota home. I am thrilled to see this legislation pass out of committee and move to the full Senate. We face one last hurdle before the Prince memorial sign becomes a reality.
