On Monday, the Minnesota Senate continued to deliver on its promise to make prescription drug costs more transparent and more affordable for residents. By an overwhelming bipartisan vote of 63-2, the Senate approved Senate File 1098, the Prescription Drug Transparency Act.
After passage, Senator Draheim (R-Madison Lake) issued the following statement:
“We’ve had various bills over the last three years dealing with the cost of prescription drugs in Minnesota, all targeted at keeping medication affordable for Minnesotans. Today’s legislation focusses specifically on manufacturers and price gouging that has occurred with certain pharmaceuticals. While we want to trust the market and encourage business, we can’t turn a blind eye to predatory practices like price-fixing, especially when it comes to medications that people rely on for their health and wellbeing.”
