Senator Farnsworth named Chair of IRRR Advisory Board

Senator Robert Farnsworth (R-Hibbing) has been named Chair of the Iron Range Resources & Rehabilitation (IRRR) Advisory Board, a key position overseeing economic development and investment in northeastern Minnesota.

“I’m honored to serve as Chair of the IRRR Advisory Board and look forward to working with my colleagues to strengthen the Iron Range economy,” said Sen. Farnsworth. “Our region has a long history of industry, innovation, and resilience, and I’m committed to ensuring the work and investments of the IRRR support long-term economic growth, job creation, and community development.”

The IRRR plays a critical role in guiding economic and workforce initiatives across the Iron Range, supporting industries like mining, manufacturing, and small business development. As Chair, Sen. Farnsworth will help shape policies that drive sustainable economic opportunities while ensuring that local communities benefit from IRRR funding.

“I look forward to leading the Range to make strategic investments that benefit our entire region,” Farnsworth added. “This is about making sure Iron Range communities, schools, and families have the resources they need to thrive.”

The IRRR consists of both state senators and state representatives elected from legislative districts in which one-third or more of the residents reside within the agency’s service area, approximately 13,000 square miles as defined by Minnesota Statute 273.1341. One additional state senator is appointed by the Majority Leader of the senate.
