On Tuesday, Gov. Walz announced his proposed two-year budget. The budget includes $52.4 billion in spending and calls for $1.64 billion in new taxes on Minnesotans
Senator Bill Ingebrigtsen (R-Alexandria) released the following statement in response to the Governor’s budget announcement:
“We still have a budget deficit on the horizon, and while it is more manageable than anticipated, our state government must make some tough choices,” said Sen. Ingebrigtsen.
“Unfortunately, Governor Walz’s budget plan doesn’t make any concessions and increases taxes on families and small businesses during a pandemic. Minnesotans have been through enough. The priority shouldn’t be to increase the size of the government. Instead, we should be prioritizing relief to employees, businesses, and families who have been forced into difficulty due to COVID and Walz’s executive orders. “
