Today Gov. Tim Walz announced his 2021 budget proposal, which calls for $52.4 billion in spending and more than $1.6 billion in new taxes. It represents a spending increase of $4.4 billion from the previous budget.
Senator John Jasinski (R-Faribault) issued the following statement in response.
“Apparently not even a global pandemic, 10 months of closed businesses and laid-off workers, and a large budget deficit can cause the DFL to deviate from the same playbook they always use: more taxes, more spending.
“Our Senate Republican priorities for Minnesota are getting business to reopen, getting people back to work, and getting kids back in the classroom. The governor’s budget is great for government bureaucracy, but it’s not going to improve regular Minnesotans’ lives one bit.”
Senate Republicans previously announced their priorities for the 2021 session as well.
