Today the Minnesota Senate approved legislation for the distribution $2 billion of federal COVID-19 assistance funds intended to help health professionals, assist businesses, and aid local governments recovering from the economic impact of COVID-19. That money went into an account called the Federal Coronavirus Relief Fund, so it could be quickly deployed where it is needed most.
This legislation ensures that the local government portion of the funding – about $841 million – will be fairly distributed to Minnesota counties, cities, and towns based on their population.
“These federal funds will support our communities as they rebuild and recover from the economic damages brought about by the Governor’s executive orders put in place to address the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Senator Scott Jensen (R-Chaska).
The funding will be distributed to Senate District 47 as follows:
Carver County – $12,851,792
Carver – $356,133
Chanhassen – $1,978,887
Chaska – $2,081,049

Mayer – $172,906
New Germany – $34,280
Norwood Young America – $288,779
