Minnesota State Senator Bill Lieske (R-Lonsdale) released the following statement today in response to Governor Tim Walz’s budget proposal:
“There is a lot for Minnesotans to be upset about in the governor’s budget: Capping nursing home payments after we just got done rescuing them. Cuts to disability services. Higher taxes and fees. Governor Walz is putting vulnerable seniors at risk to cover for his terrible budgeting of the last two years.
“His cuts to preventative care will cause a drastic spike in responsive or emergency care, sending the budget even further out of control. His budget cuts will actually lead to even higher costs!
“He can try to pretend to be a responsible budgeter, but he can’t hide from reality. Gov. Walz and Democrats spent the entire $19 billion surplus, recklessly increased government spending by 40%, and imposed $10 billion in tax increases on Minnesotans. It’s time to put a stop to that madness and build a budget that puts Minnesotans first.”
