Minnesota Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Warren Limmer (R-Maple Grove) issued the following statement in support of a Minnesota Coalition on Government Information and American Civil Liberties Union effort to highlight government transparency, accountability, and openness during the coronavirus pandemic.
“When the coronavirus pandemic hit, we made efforts to quickly adapt state law regarding accessibility and transparency for local governments. While no system is perfect, holding meetings online with a digital stream perhaps makes it even easier for the public to keep tabs on government than before.
“I am grateful there are groups and citizens keeping an eye on our elected officials. It just goes to show that while a crisis is a great time to innovate, the principles of a free and fair democratic government, accessibility and transparency, are always the same.”
