Minnesota Senator Jeremy Miller today posted the following statement on his Facebook page regarding feedback he has received about Gov. Walz’s Stay-Home order:
The health and safety of all Minnesotans is my first priority with respect to the COVID-19 crisis. I believe that good science and data must guide how we manage through this unprecedented pandemic.
I have a tremendous amount of respect for Governor Tim Walz and his administration for the amount of time and effort they are putting in to fight COVID-19. These are difficult and uncertain times and it remains critically important that we work together to protect the health and well-being of Minnesotans.
However, since the Governor’s recent announcement extending his Executive “stay at home” Order through May 18, I’ve been hearing from many folks who disagree with the decision. Based on the feedback that I’m hearing from constituents, and the very apparent increase in the number of people out and about, it’s abundantly clear that Minnesotans are ready to turn the dial a little further to allow our economy to reopen in a safe and responsible manner.
Finally, as a father of 3 young boys, I hope the Governor will allow our state’s youth to participate in summer sports and outdoor recreational activities. Once again, in a safe and responsible manner.
We are all in this together and I’m confident by working together, our state and country will persevere. Governor, let’s work together on a plan to reopen Minnesota.
