State Senator Jeremy Miller (R-Winona) recently wrapped up a tour of Ability Building Community (ABC), a facility in La Crescent that specializes in providing services for individuals with disabilities, in large part by helping them find jobs in their community.
“For as long as I have been in the Senate, I have worked on improving the way we support people with disabilities. It is one of my top priorities,” said Sen. Miller. “That’s why I am so proud to work with organizations like ABC, whose entire mission is supporting individuals with disabilities, providing them with services and work opportunities, and making sure they are truly part of the community. They are a tremendous, invaluable resource for southeast Minnesota.”
ABC offers more than a dozen patient-centered programs that are adaptable to their clients’ specific individual needs, including:
- Job search assistance
- Skills development
- Support for individuals with Traumatic Brain Injuries
- Social and recreational activities
- Hands-on work experience for teenagers and young adults
- Independent living skills
Founded in 1956, ABC currently serves over 750 people in Rochester, La Crescent and Caledonia Minnesota at over 100 community business sites and in their facilities.
