Minnesota State Senator Carla Nelson today extended her enthusiastic congratulations to the Kasson Fire Department on being awarded a $10,000 grant through the State Farm Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program. This grant, made possible by a partnership between State Farm and the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), supports volunteer fire departments with essential funding to enhance the safety and effectiveness of their responders.
“This grant is a tremendous boost for the Kasson Fire Department,” Senator Nelson said. “It helps ensure our volunteer firefighters have the critical equipment they need to continue protecting our communities. The bravery of our local firefighters deserves all the support we can give. Thanks to this grant, Kasson’s firefighters will be even better equipped to respond to emergencies and continue their life-saving work.”
Kasson Fire Department is one of 100 volunteer fire departments nationwide to receive a grant from the Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program. Fire Departments can use the funds to update critical equipment, improving both firefighter safety and service to the community.
Through this inaugural program, State Farm committed $1 million to help volunteer departments across the country obtain the equipment necessary for their vital work. State Farm’s program recognizes the unique challenges faced by rural fire departments, where volunteers make up 65% of the U.S. fire service, and funding can be especially tight.
