Minnesota health care providers should apply as soon as possible for short-term emergency funding grants to help with COVID-19 related costs, state Senator Carla Nelson (R-Rochester) said Tuesday. The grants are part of a $200 million funding package for planning, preparation, and response to the coronavirus passed by the legislature last week. The application deadline is Wednesday, March 25, and the Department of Health expects to begin reviewing applications as quickly as March 26.
“In this COVID-19 pandemic we are ever more aware and thankful for our healthcare providers. These grants will ensure that every one of our nation-leading healthcare providers, from the smallest ones to the largest, will have the tools and PPE necessary to focus on patients and keep their staff protected. I hope every eligible provider will apply for these grants as soon as possible. We are depending on you, and thank you for being on the front lines of the battle with the Coronavirus,” said Sen. Nelson.
Existing within the $200 million is $50 million in Short Term Emergency Grants. These are available for immediate cash response for the highest priority needs within ambulance services, hospitals, and nursing facilities, and other healthcare systems. The dollars received may be utilized for staffing, supplies, and modified operations, as needed. MDH also announced $150 million in Response Funds will be available at a later date.
The application deadline is Wednesday, March 25, at midnight. Materials are available on MDH’s COVID-19 response webpage and questions should be directed to COVIDgrantapplication.MDH@state.mn.us.
