State Senator Scott Newman (R-Hutchinson) issued the following statement in response to Gov. Walz easing Covid restrictions today.

“We can’t lose sight of the fact that the governor continues to hold a tight grip on his emergency powers. The founders never intended for one man to have this much power for so long. I am glad that he is finally loosening these restrictions, but he needs to go even further. Businesses of all types and sizes should be completely open under the same standards as Home Depot or Walmart. Kids need to be back in a classroom, with their teachers, five days per week. There are a lot of people who are still struggling; we should be doing everything we can to help them safely get back on the job and back to normal.”
