A proposal to widen and improve Highway 10 with state bond funds has the backing of the area’s state senator and Senate Majority Leader, Paul Gazelka (R-Nisswa), who continues to push for action on the project. On Tuesday, the Senate Capital Investment Committee heard the latest bonding proposal during their visit to Wadena.
“This is a project I care about deeply,” said Gazelka. “This section of Highway 10 is an important corridor for commerce in Minnesota, and continues to be a daily frustration and safety issue for people in Wadena. Unfortunately, improvements have been pushed off for forty years. Now is the time to get it done.”
As the primary thoroughfare connecting Fargo and central Minnesota, transportation demand on Highway 10 through Wadena continues to increase. The proposed expansion would build four lanes through the City of Wadena, alleviating congestion at the intersection of Highway 10/71 and lowering the probability of crashes.
