On Tuesday, the Minnesota Legislature convened for the 2020 legislative session at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul. The legislative session must adjourn by May 18, 2020.
“As we begin another session, we have an opportunity to build on last year’s bipartisan success. We will consider measures related to the high cost of insulin and other health care costs, cut taxes, invest in our public infrastructure, and make sure Minnesotans are equipped with the tools they need to succeed,” said Senator Eric Pratt (R-Prior Lake), chair of the Senate Jobs and Economic Growth Finance and Policy Committee. “Scott County residents have told me they are tired of the political games that have divided our state and country. They are expecting us to work together and get things done and that’s what I plan to do.”
Last month, Senate Republicans released their Vision 2020 agenda, which will be used to guide the Senate majority’s priorities during the session. The legislature is expected to consider a capital investment bill, a supplemental budget, tax relief, and more. In addition, the Senate is expected to consider measures related to health care costs, public safety, roads and bridges, public infrastructure, and other areas.
“The Senate will focus on passing bills with bipartisan support – and that includes bipartisan agreement on our $1.3 billion budget surplus. I’m looking forward to a robust discussion this session,” said Senator Pratt.
Senator Eric Pratt, of Prior Lake, represents Scott County in the Minnesota Senate. He serves as chair of the Senate Jobs and Economic Growth Finance and Policy Committee.
