On Monday, we passed legislation that would allow the City of Mora to increase their membership on the city’s Public Utility Commission from three to five members.
The bill, SF 2248, was created to help Mora and their PUC board. Currently, the group comprises of three members, and they requested that we increase the size to five. The group has run into issues with sick members and members having other obligations that they have not reached a quorum or had the ability to discuss upcoming issues.
The terms for the additional members will be staggered and follow the bylaws of the PUC. They have two members ready to join, and after the governor signs the bill, they will be appointed by the city council. This bill also stipulates that no more than two of the five total members may concurrently serve as city council members.
As always, I’m happy to have opportunities like this to work with local officials and help our communities out.
