Last fall, the Minnesota Senate invited K-12 students throughout the state to submit photos or drawings that highlight life in their community. One artwork per Senate District was recently chosen to hang in the Minnesota Senate Building for the rest of 2023.

In District 9, Sadie Shippee of Perham High School was named this year’s winner of the Senate’s My District, My Minnesota art competition. Senator Jordan Rasmusson (R-Fergus Falls) chose Sadie’s work and has invited her to the Senate building to view the work on display.

“Congratulations to Sadie on being selected for the My District, My Minnesota art competition,” Senator Rasmusson said. “From local landmarks to our community’s strong agricultural heritage, Sadie’s art is a wonderful representation of life in Senate District 9. It is a privilege to showcase this artwork at the Minnesota Senate Building.”
