Minnesota’s 2021 Legislative Session officially began January 5 with Senator Rich Draheim (R-Madison Lake) and 66 other State Senators swearing-into office during a ceremony at the State Capitol.
“It is an honor to return to St. Paul to represent great people of Le Sueur, Rice, and Scott Counties for the next two years,” said Senator Draheim. “I am grateful that our community has entrusted me with this responsibility, and I look forward to resuming work in the legislature to help all Minnesotans. This session, the legislature will face the difficult task of crafting and approving a new two-year budget. As this work unfolds over the next few months, I will remain committed to ensuring any budget that passes protects taxpayers, slows government growth, and targets fraud in waste. In addition, I remain committed to working to end Governor Walz’s peacetime emergency powers and allowing Minnesotans back to their daily lives in a safe and responsible manner. ”
During the first few weeks of the session, most of Sen. Draheim’s work will take place in Senate Committees. During the 2021-2022 session, Senator Draheim has been appointed to serve on the following committees:
- Chair of the Housing Finance and Policy Committee
- Vice-Chair of the Health and Human Service Finance and Policy Committee
- Jobs and Economic Growth Finance and Policy Committee
- Technology and Reform Policy Committee
