Senator Carrie Ruud (R-Breezy Point) was appointed to the Midwestern Legislative Conference Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee for their 75th annual meeting, which was held in Rapid City, South Dakota. The Committee meeting took place from July 10-13, and focused on issues, challenges, and interests facing multiple states in the Midwest. Senator Ruud served as one of the representatives for the state of Minnesota.
Appointees were invited to share policies, programs, legislation, and challenges from each of their states that they have encountered throughout the last biennium. Other key portions of the conference included agricultural-focused visits to a buffalo ranch and historic fish hatchery, as well as sessions designed to confront the challenges of reimagining educational systems, and how they can address the needs of employees and employers of the future.
“I was honored to be appointed to the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee, and I greatly enjoyed my time representing Minnesota at the MLC annual meeting this year,” said Sen. Ruud. “The committee examined a number of agricultural issues affecting the midwestern states, and we also discussed support for local food production, Federal carbon and land initiatives, trade, and conservation. It was a great collaborative experience and I look forward to working with this committee in the future.”
