Senator Carrie Ruud (R-Breezy Point) has been invited to participate in the inaugural Patricia Birkholz Institute for the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Legislative Caucus (GLLC) in Detroit. The institute is facilitating discussions between experts and a group of state and provincial legislators to study solutions for nutrient pollution and develop a model to reduce its impact on urban and agricultural lands. The mission of this event is to unite legislators and utilize their resources to develop best practices that will benefit the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence River, and other waterways.
“I look forward to working with this group of legislators to take action on behalf of our constituents who depend on access to clean water,” said Senator Ruud. “I hope to bring new ideas back to Minnesota for implementation next session as we continue our work preserving the resources of our state and our region.”
Senator Ruud was considered an excellent candidate for this forum due to her accomplishments at the Senate and in her district to promote clean water initiatives.
Senator Ruud added, “Working together with legislators from surrounding regions, we will be better equipped to preserve our most valuable resources. Protecting clean water is a common goal among leaders around the country. This collaboration is a great start.”
