Senator Paul Utke (R-Park Rapids) today released the following statement on the state’s record $17.6 billion surplus:
“This surplus is a clear indicator of the continued over-taxation that Minnesotans have been subjected to year after year. Last year Senate Republicans led efforts to reduce taxes and provide permanent tax relief, only to be stopped by Governor Walz and House Democrats.
Families across the state are nervous about inflation and the looming possibility of a recession. Minnesotans cannot afford costly Democrat policies that grow the size and scope of government without providing any relief. Legislators must step up to provide permanent relief for all Minnesotans, and Senate Republicans are committed to fighting for families across the state.”
