Today’s revenue announcement reveals Minnesota took in $46 Million less than projected for the first quarter of the 2015 fiscal year.
Three of the past five quarterly state revenue updates have been negative, calling into question the trajectory of Governor Dayton’s budget. The last time Minnesota had this many negative quarterly revenue updates was in 2010, as the state was climbing out of the recession.
In years past, revenues tended to consistently trend in one direction or the other. Rarely has the state seen a revenue rollercoaster like this one.
